Objectives

The objectives of our online OSHA 8 Hour Hazardous Materials Technician Level III Responder Refresher training is to meet the OSHA HAZWOPER refresher training requirement of 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(8) and 29 CFR 1926.65(q)(8). This course is also intended to meet any OSHA HAZWOPER training requirements for the EPA and State OSHA regulations.

Learning Objectives

Identify hazardous substances and recognize hazmat incidents;
Use the current Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG);
Describe pertinent regulations and standards that apply to the Hazmat Technician, including Emergency Response Planning;
Explain toxicology exposures and effects, exposure standards, and physical and chemical properties;
Implement site control, incident safety, and risk assessment techniques;
Discuss advance hazmat mitigation techniques; and
Indicate appropriate hazmat decontamination.
Additionally, in this version, students will:
View a complete animated video series depicting an entire hazmat incident; and
Participate in an Online Interactive Tabletop Exercise®.

This course has been updated to align with the 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook, which offers crucial information needed by hazmat employees and first responders during the initial phase of any transportation emergency involving hazardous materials or dangerous goods.
